Now that the Law has been in effect for almost a decade and certain multi-employer plans have a track record with investments and service levels and there are relatively new plans and providers that have surfaced, there is some activity with respect to changing plans or providers.  Some employers will agree to provide more than 1 provider so that employees can chose amongst providers; however this is not standard or required practice.

As with establishing a plan, changing plans or providers is not to be a unilateral decision on the part of employers.  Employees need to be consulted and the proper process followed and the documentation produced to show that employees support such a move.
