The National Pensions Law (NPL) provides the legislation that sets forth the rights of employees in the Cayman Islands to belong to a registered pension plan and to receive pension benefits.

Participation in a pension plan is mandatory. Employers must provide a pension plan for those eligible employees and can be subject to a fine if they do not.

An employer is not permitted to change providers unless agreement has been reached with employees and the proper process followed.
